He was born on August 7, 1954, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Wayne and Martha Mellott Thrush. Joe was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, enlisting on February 5, 1973 and honorably discharged on March 18, 1977. He married Doreen J. Bowers on September 6, 2003, at their home. In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by seven siblings.

His memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Philip E.
