Charles F. Perry, 82, of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, departed this life on the afternoon of Thursday, December 28, 2017.

He was born on February 9, 1935, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Charles E. Perry and Velva E. Mowery Perry Bistline. Charles married Mary Louise Heefner on September 14, 1958. She preceded him in death on March 19, 1992.

Charles worked as a forklift operator for the former James River Co., Chambersburg, for thirty-two years, retiring in December of 1996, and also farmed with his uncle, Mark Mowery in Shippensburg, from 1950 to 1965.

He was a member of the Open Door Church, Chambersburg, where he volunteered for their Open Door Bus Ministry and as an all-season groundskeeper. Charles enjoyed hunting, working on automobiles, antique John Deer tractors, and NASCAR. He was once a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Rebekah S. (Carl W.) Helman of Chambersburg and Barbara P. (Ronald C., II) Sisto of Dover; granddaughter, Paris A. (Ryan C.) Egolf of Chambersburg; two grandsons, Jesse E. Helman of Chambersburg and C. Josiah Sisto of Dover; sister, Joan Swanger of Mohnton; half-sister, Martha L. Bistline of Shippensburg; half-brother, Warren L. Bistline of Milford, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at the Open Door Church, Chambersburg. Rev. Michael Sanders will officiate. Interment will occur in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
