Obituary for Betty L. Byers (Coy)
Betty L. Byers, 87, of Newburg, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Orrstown Personal Care Home.
Born Monday, September 28, 1931 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Emory and Helen Fridinger Coy.
Betty was a former member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg. She worked as a secretary at Richard Textiles/Hoffman Mills, and also worked for Negley’s Well Drilling, from where she retired. She enjoyed the outdoors, flowers, and painting.
She is survived by two daughters, Jolynn K. (Neil) Negley, Newburg, and Denylu A. Knox, Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Stacey (Jeff) Cohick, Orrstown, Dustin (Heather) Negley, Shippensburg, Julie (Tommie) Young, Newburg, and Robert (Courtney) Knox, Jefferson Hills; six great grandchildren, Jaden, Rya, and Noah Negley, Alex (Kayla) Young, and Campbell and Grayson Knox; and two great-great grandchildren Cooper and Huxley Young.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Byers whom she married July 5, 1951 in Winchester, VA., one sister, Peggy J. Russell, and son in-law, Dannie C. Knox, Jr.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
