Obituary for Richard Wayne "Dick" Beecher

Richard Wayne “Dick” Beecher, 86, of Mt. Holly Springs, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Shippensburg Health care Center.

Born Tuesday, December 6, 1932 in Hockersville, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Samuel A. and Elizabeth Jane Miller Beecher.

Dick was a member of the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, Carlisle. He was a United States Army Veteran. Dick was the owner/operator of R W Beecher Roofing & Spouting.

Dick was a member of the Hub City Club, Shippensburg, Walnut Bottom Rod & Gun Club, and loved fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anna May Murray Beecher, whom he married April 14, 1991; one son, Richard William “Rick” (wife Brenda) Beecher, Newville; two step sons, Allen E. (wife Terrie) Grace, Newville, and Shane M. (wife Susie) Davis, Falls Church, VA; two granddaughters, Tiffany N. (husband Douglas) Warner, and Christina M. (husband Jason) Zimmerman, all of Shippensburg; one grandson, Matthew R. (wife Tasha) Beecher, Newville; two step granddaughters, C.J. Grace, CA, and Paloma Davis, Falls Church, VA; one step grandson, Adam Grace, York; eight great grandchildren, Jocelyn and Jared Warner, Rylee, Raelin, and Donovan Zimmerman, all of Shippensburg, and Layke, Miles, and Brooks Beecher, all of Newville; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Frengle, Shippensburg, Nancy Carole Bailey, Chambersburg, and Rebecca Lee Gallucci, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Erika Schwab Beecher whom passed away February 1, 1990; one brother, Gerald Thomas Beecher; and three sisters, Leona Irene Beecher, Joan Elizabeth Ashburn, and Margaret Iown Widney.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, with Pastor Daniel R. Mikesell, and Pastor Barbara A. Servello officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, in the Church. Military Honors will be held immediately following the service.
