Nelson L. Hardy, 87, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 in the Hollidaysburg VA Center.

He was born January 7, 1932 in Metal Township, Franklin County. Nelson was a son of the late Roy and Laura Hardy.

Nelson retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot and was a member of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Association. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. Nelson was a graduate of the Fannett-Metal High School.

In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Morris Hardy whom he married October 2, 1954 and died September 11, 2018. Three grandchildren and one step-brother are also deceased.
Nelson is survived by three children, Roy L. (Karen) Hardy of Phelps, NY, Dora A. Coldsmith of Shippensburg and Sarah A. (James) Babcock of Penn Yan, NY, 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 12 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg with military honors following the services that will be conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 Marching Unit. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Reid & Mr. Jason Coldsmith. A private burial will take place in the Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
