Obituary for Glenn E. Peterson Sr.
Glenn E. Peterson Sr., 92, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Shippensburg Health Care Center.
He was born October 21, 1927, in Shippensburg, the son of the late Ross E. and Ardella C. Helm Peterson.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy L. Scott Peterson who died September 28, 2019. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ross Peterson, Jr. and Zelda Lloyd.
He is survived by one son, Glenn E. Peterson Jr (Martha) of Carlisle; two daughters, Barbara (Barry) Duncan of Carlisle, and Valerie Griffin of Shippensburg; one brother Dana (Mary) Peterson of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Brandon Peterson, Julina Greineder, Adrian and Adriana Griffin; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He attended the Shippensburg First Assembly of God Church. He was a previous member of the former Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church in Carlisle for decades, and was involved as boy’s club leader, Deacon, and facility and grounds caretaker.
Glenn was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg and a 1945 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. Glenn was a retired federal employee having worked at Letterkenny Army Depot and then at the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg with Pastor Ken Waggoner officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Friday. Burial with military honors conducted by the Cumberland County Honor Guard will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, PA.
